A driving school that pays its instructors properly.
GreenLight started in 2009 with one car and one instructor working out of a flat in Sneinton. Fourteen instructors later, the thing that has not changed is that every one of them is employed here.
Why that matters to you.
Most schools are franchises. The instructor pays a weekly fee for the badge and the leads, so a cancelled lesson costs them money and a slow learner costs them more. That pressure ends up in the car with you.
Our instructors are salaried, with a bonus tied to first-time passes rather than hours sold. Nobody here has a reason to stretch your course out, and nobody has a reason to put you in for a test before you are ready.

Book your first lesson
Two hours, at your door. Tell us your postcode and whether you want manual or automatic and we match you to an instructor who covers your area.
Assessment drive
Lesson one is a proper drive, not a car park. You leave with a written plan and an honest estimate of the hours you need.
Same instructor, same slot
You keep the weekly slot you book. Your progress record updates after every lesson, and you can see it on your phone.
Mock test, then the real one
We book a full mock on your test route two weeks out. You use our car on the day, and the test fee is included in course prices.

Anxious first-timers
We start on the quiet estates off Colwick Loop Road at 07:00 on a Sunday and stay there until the pedals stop being a puzzle. No motorway talk, no test talk, not until you raise it.
Drivers coming back to it
Licence in the drawer since 2004, or a licence from another country. Two-hour assessment drive first, then an honest number of hours rather than a package sold on the phone.
People with a deadline
A job starting, a move, a university term. Intensive courses run every fortnight with the test slot held, and we will tell you if two weeks is not realistic for you.
