About us
Forty years of the same lanes.
Severn Freight started in 1986 with two vehicles running steel out of Gloucester docks. The family still owns it, the traffic office is still in Gloucester, and a third of the drivers have been here more than ten years.
We plan it before we sell it.
Nobody here quotes a lane the planners have not looked at. If a delivery window cannot be held with the vehicles we have that week, we say so on the rate rather than finding out at 04:00 on the day.
That is why our on-time figure is published on the invoice run every quarter, failures included, and why customers who move to us on a trial tend to stay.

Our promise
What an account customer can hold us to.
Send the consignment detail
Postcodes, pallet count and size, collection date. A planner prices it against the lane rather than a generic tariff.
Rate confirmation in writing
A written rate the same working day, valid for 30 days, with the transit time and any timed delivery cost shown separately.
Booked in and scanned
Collection slot confirmed by email. Every pallet is barcoded and scanned at collection, at trunk, at the hub and on delivery.
Proof of delivery the same day
Signed and photographed PODs land in your account portal within an hour of the drop, and sit on the invoice line when you are billed.
Compliance
Boring, and that is the point.
Tachograph analysis is reviewed weekly and infringements are handled the same week. Vehicles come off the road on a six-week inspection cycle whether or not the schedule wants them. Our operator licence has never carried a marker.
Every driver is assessed on the road in their first month and again each year. Nine hold current ADR certification, and our dangerous goods safety adviser audits the paperwork twice a year.

Thinking of moving a lane across?
Send us the volumes and postcodes you run today. We will price them against ours and tell you where we cannot beat what you have.
