About the studio
Rhys Calder opened one bay behind a unit in Tongwell in 2014, working evenings on his own car and then everyone else's. There are three bays now, and the rule has not changed: one car in each, finished before the next one comes in.
Why it takes as long as it does
Decontamination, taping, measuring. A bonnet that reads 108 microns has room to work with. One that reads 74 does not, and we will say so rather than take the risk with your paint. Everything is logged on a sheet that goes home with the car.
We do not subcontract, we do not run a queue of five cars at once, and we do not sell a coating to a car that would be better off with a sealant and a wash plan.
The unit
| Light bars | 6500K colour matched, four positions per bay | |
| Paint gauge | Ultrasonic, readings logged on every panel | |
| Wash bay | Deionised final rinse, no water spots | |
| Curing bay | Sealed and filtered, infrared curing overnight | |

What we will not do
If the gauge says the clear coat has been worked before and there is little left, we stop and tell you. A burned edge costs more to fix than the detail cost in the first place.
A coating over swirls seals the swirls in for five years. Correction first, always, or no coating.
Bays are booked one car at a time. If the diary is full we give you the next free date rather than parking your car outside for a fortnight.
Ten minutes in the studio explains more than any photo. Call 01908 442 610 and we will tell you what is in the bays this week.
