About Beacon
Started because a backup had not run since March.
Adam Rowe found it on a client site in 2012, at a firm paying a monthly fee to somebody who had never checked. Beacon exists to make that impossible: every check is recorded, every result is published, and the report goes out whether the month went well or badly.
How we run
Small enough to know your kit. Big enough to cover the weekend.
Fourteen people in one office by Reading station. No offshore first line, no ticket bouncing between queues. Every client has a named engineer who has been on site, plus a second engineer who knows the same estate, so holiday and illness change nothing.
What we will not do
Three things we say no to, in writing.
We sell the work, not the fear. If a purchase does not shorten an outage or close a real risk, we will tell you to keep the money.
- No hardware markup we hide. Kit is billed at supplier cost with the invoice attached.
- No lock-in tooling. Licences sit in your tenant and the documentation is yours from day one.
- No selling on an incident. We fix it first, then talk about what would stop it happening again.
The team
The people whose names are on your account.
Adam Rowe
Ran service desks for two larger providers before starting Beacon in 2012. Still takes P1 calls at weekends.
Nadia Osman
Leads Cyber Essentials Plus work and incident response. Runs the phishing simulations nobody enjoys.
Tom Beattie
Owns the answer time and the first-time-fix rate, and publishes both to clients every month whatever they say.
Ruth Kelleher
Office moves, migrations and out-of-hours cutovers. Writes the rollback plan before the change plan.
