Nadia Okoro opened the Durnford Street office in 2009 with four properties and a laptop. There are 412 now, and the office is still on Durnford Street.
The idea
Built after a bad experience as a landlord.
Nadia let her first flat through a national chain, spent a year chasing statements, and lost a deposit dispute because nobody had served the prescribed information. Harbourside started as the agency she wanted to hire: fees written down, certificates diarised, and a phone that a person answers.
The model has not changed. We do not sell homes, we do not run a mortgage desk, and we do not open a second branch. Lettings and management, in Plymouth, done thoroughly enough that most of our new landlords arrive on a recommendation from an old one.

How we work
Four rules that are older than the website.

Fees on the website
Every landlord fee and every permitted tenant charge is published in pounds and percentages. If it is not on this site, we do not charge it.

One office, one team
No regional call centre and no franchise. The person who values your property is in the same room as the person who manages it.

Contractor invoices at cost
We hold no stake in any trade we instruct and take no commission on repairs. The invoice you see is the invoice we paid.

We say no to instructions
If a property is not compliant and the owner will not put it right, we walk away. That is easier to say when we are not chasing a listings target.

Four people, and you will meet all of them.
Fully managed landlords are given a named manager on day one. Tenants get the same names on their move-in pack.
