Six things people ring us about. Pick the one that sounds like your week and we will tell you what it costs, how long it takes and what happens first.

from £850 →I need to plan ahead, or deal with an estateWills, lasting powers of attorney, trusts and full estate administration. Home visits across Norfolk at no extra charge.
from £180 →Something has gone wrong at workSettlement agreements, unfair dismissal, discrimination and grievances. We act for employees and for small employers, never for both in the same matter.
from £350 →I am in a dispute with someoneContract disputes, unpaid invoices, boundaries, landlord and tenant, professional negligence. We start with the letter that settles it.
from £150 →Every matter starts with a written quote or an hourly estimate with a cap. If the job changes, we tell you before the cost does.
You get a person, a direct dial and an email address. Not a case reference and a general enquiries inbox.
Advice you can act on without a dictionary, confirmed in a letter you can read twice and show to your family.
Every call and email is answered within one working day, even if the answer is that we need longer to look at it.
Fixed fee conveyancing
Our conveyancing scale is published, so the quote on this page is the quote in the letter. Move the price, choose freehold or leasehold, and you will see our fee, the VAT, every search we pay for and the stamp duty.
If a purchase falls through you pay only for searches already ordered.
An email or a call every Thursday, even in the weeks when nothing has moved.
Named on your quote with a direct dial. You will not be passed around a team.
| Legal fee | £895 |
|---|---|
| VAT at 20% | £179 |
| Identity checks, two people | £24 |
| Bank transfer fee | £36 |

Worked out from our published scale. Stamp duty is the England and Northern Ireland residential rate and assumes this is not an additional property. Your written quote confirms every figure before you instruct us.
What happens next
Most people who ring a solicitor have never used one. Here is the whole road for each of our services, with the point at which money is due.
You get a written quote with every disbursement listed. Once you accept, we open the file the same day and send your ID checks.
Searches ordered within 48 hours of your payment on account. On a sale, the contract pack goes out within five working days.
We raise enquiries, chase the other side twice a week, and send you a plain English report on title before anything is signed.
Completion date agreed by the whole chain before contracts are exchanged. Deposit sent, no date moves after this point.
Funds sent first thing, keys released by lunchtime in most cases. Stamp duty filed within 14 days, Land Registry application within four weeks.
Your solicitor
Runs the conveyancing department and still handles her own files. Rebecca introduced the Thursday update after too many clients told her the worst part of moving was the silence.
Resolution member and accredited mediator. Idris has appeared in the Norwich family court for twenty five years and settles far more cases than he argues.
Does most of her first meetings at kitchen tables across Norfolk. Hannah writes the plain English clause notes that go out with every draft will.
Clients
The Thursday update meant I never had to chase anyone. Our chain had five parties in it and Marsh & Bell were the only firm anybody could get hold of.
A. Rowntree · Sale and purchase, Eaton
Idris told me at the first meeting what the likely outcome was and what it would cost. Both turned out to be right, which I did not expect.
M. Fenn · Divorce and consent order
A fixed fee rather than a slice of my mother's estate. Hannah explained every letter from HMRC before I had to ask.
J. Alderton · Probate, Wymondham
Call the office and you will speak to a person who can tell you within five minutes whether we can help and what it costs.
