About us

One house, one family, since 1998.

Willow Grove House was a Victorian rectory before the Callaway family bought it in 1998 and spent two years turning it into a care home. It is still owned by the same family, still 46 rooms, and still has no plans to become a chain.

Our thinking

Small enough that the manager knows every name.

Forty six rooms is deliberate. It is large enough to keep a registered nurse on every shift and a chef in the kitchen, and small enough that Ruth knows what each resident takes in their tea. We have turned down two offers to buy the home.

We do not use agency staff on the day shift, because a familiar face matters more in dementia care than almost anything else we could buy. That costs us money and we think it is the right place to spend it.
